Why You Should Think Twice Before Relocating Abroad – Candy Bleakz
Nigerian singer Candy Bleakz has shared her perspective on the increasing trend of relocating abroad, popularly known as “japa.” In a recent video, she urged Nigerians to carefully evaluate the challenges of living abroad before making the move.
Candy Bleakz highlighted the harsh realities of life overseas, including the demanding work schedules, high cost of living, and the cold, isolating weather conditions. She explained that while many see relocating as an opportunity for “greener pastures,” the reality is often far from ideal.
The singer advised Nigerians who are financially stable and thriving in the country to reconsider relocating, emphasizing that the stress and monotony of life abroad may not be worth it. According to her, the idea of relocating should only be a last resort when opportunities in Nigeria are completely unavailable.
Candy Bleakz also touched on the lack of community and social interaction in countries like the UK. She noted that the culture often leaves people feeling isolated, with fewer opportunities to connect or relax due to the constant pressure of work and financial responsibilities.
In her words, “Everybody is talking about japa, japa, japa and the UK, yet nobody is telling them about the price they have to pay. Did you tell them about having to work every day from seven to six? Do you tell them about the cold, the bills, or how hard it is to live?”
She continued, “Do you tell them how people don’t greet others in the UK? People don’t go out unnecessarily because of tickets. One thing I’ve realized about the UK is that you have to work like you’re going to die. Imagine working all your life just to pay bills.”
Candy Bleakz acknowledged that while countries like the UK offer peace and stability, the trade-offs can be overwhelming. She encouraged Nigerians to appreciate the benefits of living in their home country, especially if they already do well financially.
She said, “If you’re in Nigeria and you’re blessed and making money, don’t relocate here. It’s stressful and boring. You should only consider japa if there’s no hope for you in Nigeria. Even some people in the UK want to go back home.”
This message serves as a reminder for those considering relocation to weigh their options carefully and not be swayed solely by the allure of living abroad.
