Will Smith reveals his lowest in his marriage to Jada Piinkett
Will Smith slapped Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars for making a joke about Pinkett Smith’s hair, bringing the couple’s marriage into the spotlight again after the entanglement saga. Will Smith recently revealed that his “low point” occurred after his surprise for Jada Pinkett Smith’s 40th birthday celebration went flat.
The actor has been forthright about the incident, which the couple discussed in a recently unearthed Red Table Talk clip, and he also included it in his recent biography Will. After Smith surprised Pinkett Smith with a three-year-in-the-making documentary about her life at her birthday party, she described it as “the most disgusting display of ego I have ever seen in my life.”
Smith told his family about his “low point,” which also happened to be Pinkett Smith’s 40th birthday. He spent three years producing a documentary for her birthday that detailed her family history and included hidden audio of her grandmother, as well as tracking down a descendant of the white family who had owned Pinkett Smith’s grandparents. He also arranged for Mary J. Blige to sing at the event, and Smith described himself as “the little boy that wants mommy to say everything was wonderful,” but he didn’t realize she was going through a “really difficult emotional time.” Willow came out crying with her hands over her ears, imploring Pinkett Smith and Smith to stop fighting.
Willow allegedly penned a letter to Tupac Shakur as a toddler, pleading with him to return to make her mother happy. He said on Red Table Talk after the incident that he was “crushed” and that he still knew he was crushed “because it was true.” Keep an eye on Thirsty for more such news.
