“You Chose Yourself”: Bobrisky Faces Backlash After Joining ‘I Am a Chosen’ Trend
Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has sparked controversy by participating in the viral ‘I Am a Chosen’ trend. The trend, which took off after social media personality Verydarkman criticized the testimonies from the Lord’s Chosen church, has seen several Nigerian celebrities, including Tonto Dikeh and Yhemolee, join in by posting humorous content related to the movement.
Unlike others who shared edited photos of themselves in the church’s signature aprons, Bobrisky opted to upload a video of himself wearing a striking red gown. In the video, the social media star declared, “I am a Chosen!!!” while praising his own appearance. Bobrisky’s caption further emphasized his beauty, with the message: “I am a chosen!!! I look dãmñ gorgeous.”
However, his use of the religious slogan didn’t sit well with many of his followers, who quickly criticized his involvement in the trend. Comments on his Facebook post reflected mixed reactions, with some poking fun at his declaration, suggesting that Bobrisky had “chosen” himself rather than being divinely chosen.
Fans expressed their disapproval, with one commenter, Chinnybee Genia, stating, “It is not your own type of chosen pls. In your own case, you were the one that chose yourself.” Others shared similarly pointed responses, questioning Bobrisky’s participation in the trend.
In other news, Bobrisky recently made headlines for appearing on a debtors’ list in the Lagos estate where he lives, further fueling public discussions about his lifestyle and finances.
